What's happening at the Double Decker Deli ...
May 2009 ... Stepping Stanes
Former world record cyclist Graeme Obree was amongst the clientele getting fed at the Stepping Stanes event in Dumfries. A great day for the kids who turned up for quality coaching and racing in the woods at Heathhall. Stepping Stanes are an organisation set up to encourage children and families to take up cycling. Based in Dumfries, they run a brilliant series of coaching and race events.
May 2009 ... Down South!
The Double Decker Deli was hired to provide private catering at plant shows in Kidderminster and Bristol. You've got to feel for the driver who cranked out the bus at 45 mph all the way down south. Needless to say no speed records were broken but the clients did have the office with the best view at the events. They used the top deck as their office and their visting guests were treated to some great food and coffee during the events.
February - April 2009
The Double Decker Deli was out and about at Innerleithen a couple of times firstly to support the winter series, then to feed the bikers on the Uplift Scotland weekend in April. In between the Bus went to Carron Valley to feed more mountain bikers who were there to check out the latest bikes from Specialized and Giant.
November 2008 ... 7 Stanes Business Bus
7 Stanes hired the Double Decker Deli and pimped it up into the Business Bus for the week. The Bus then toured the south of Scotland from Stranraer to Hawick and a load of places in between as they spread the word to the business community about the opportunities of linking into the world class mountain biking facilities in Scotland.
November 2008 ... Innerleithen
The Double Decker Deli once again sorted out the hunger pangs of the mountain bike community. The bus and cattle truck took the downhill riders and their bikes to the top of the trails and the Double Decker Deli was waiting at the bottom to feed them up ready for the next run. Everyone seemed to enjoy having good coffee and healthy food on site and the top deck got well used in the afternoons especially on Sunday when the good old Scottish rain started! Hi to the crew from Manchester and hope you enjoyed the chefs dinner!
August 2008 ... Foodies at the Festival
August started with the Double Decker Deli making it's way to the Galloway Country fair. Not quite as many visitors as the organisers had hoped but a good event none the less with plenty to see and do in this beautiful part of the world. Next stop for the Bus was Edinburgh and the Foodies at the Festival. Edinburgh was buzzing with people from all over the world at this busy time of year for the city and the Double Decker Deli was a great draw for many of the tourists visting the festival. A huge diversity of people came aboard to sample the coffee and delicious home made baking that was on offer.
July 2008 ... T in the Park
Another year, another T in the Park and it just keeps getting better. A Scottish Executive backed Healthy T area was put together building on last years healthy food court with an even bigger selection of good food on offer. Another great event and as usual the staff worked there butts off to keep the lattes flowing and the loyal Double Decker Deli customers amongst the 85,000 strong crowd happy. Well done to the organisers for putting it together. Good food, great coffee, massage tents, music, entertainment ... what more could you want!
June 2008 ... Scottish Rally Championships
The Double Decker Deli rocked into Dumfries to provide catering at the Scottish National Rally Championships. The drivers, teams, volunteers and spectators all made good use of the Bus before setting off on the various stages of the event.
May 2008 ... Events Catering Manager & Event Workers wanted!
If you are hard working, organised and willing to work whilst everyone else seems to be having fun then you may be just the person we're looking for!! We need hard working people with a good sense of humour who are available to work part time on an event by event basis. January 2008 ... Where have we been?
A lot of people have e mailed asking where we have been as they haven't seen us around. Well the Double Decker Deli has been very active since October on private catering contracts ensuring those who hire us receive delicious food and quality coffee whilst they go about their business. With our new chef Gordon aboard the Bus the food has been getting rave reviews. On the events side of things we were at George Square in Glasgow whilst the Christmas lights were being turned on and a few weeks ago we were in Edinburgh for the BUPA Great Winter Run. The runners had the right idea as they kept their bodies moving on what turned out to be a very cold day and our home made soup went down a storm with our customers. Well done to the Ethiopian athlete Kenenisa Bekele who won the international event in spectacular style.
September 2007 ... Mountain Bike World Cup (Fort William)
The event they tried to ban us from!! After a bit of a fight in the name of real coffee we were able to get ourselves into the main arena (thanks to those who helped on that one). A slow start to the week but by Friday the crowds appeared in good numbers to watch the downhill, 4 cross and x country mountain bike action over the weekend at Nevisrange. We had many regulars coming onto the bus through out the week. Have to say hi to the Forestry commision girls, perhaps we'll set your stall up on the top deck next year .. save you the walk!! Thanks to all the girls who worked on the DD Deli this week, a great job done by you all.
August 2007 ... Belladrum (just south of Inverness)
Despite being hidden between a couple of tents our customers found us on Saturday to make up for a quiet Friday. Our manager for the event, Kirsty, done a great job by hanging out a big flag from the back of the bus highlighting where we were, nice one Kirsty. A decent crowd turned up to see a good line up in the Highlands with performers such as Alabama 3, Lloyd Cole and Amy MacDonald. Don't know how Stu put up with all those girls mind you!!
July 2007 ... T in the Park
A great weekend had by this huge crowd at Scotlands biggest music festival. Many of our growing list of regular customers found their way to the Double Decker Deli time and time again. Thanks to you all and glad you enjoy the coffee and atmosphere on the Bus. The Double Decker Deli was placed in the new healthy food court which gave our customers a good spot to relax away from the main crowd.
June 2007 ... Outsider Festival (Aviemore) ...
This was simply brilliant. A fantastic crowd made it's way to Rothiemurchas estate, just outside of Aviemore for three days of outdoor fun. Even the weather couldn't dampen the spirits of this family friendly festival. Mountain biking, the most beautiful run in Britain (a 12 km run) and a fantastic line up of musicians were all part of this inaugural boutique gig. The lads at the Double Decker Deli would like to say thanks to the organisers and the hordes of people who came aboard to sample our coffee and hot chocolate. This was the first Outsider Festival but we certainly hope it won't be the last ... spread the word about this one.
June 2007 ... 10 Under The Ben ...
A great event organised by the lads at No Fuss Events. A success for the Double Decker Deli as the mountain bikers taking part in this endurance event piled onto the Bus for lots of pasta and coffee to keep them going throughout the day. The motorbike stuntmen and the crazy fire man (those who were there know who I mean) kept the rest of the crowd entertained. This is an event that will hopefully grow bigger from a spectator point of view as there was plenty to keep to keep everyone entertained whilst the mountain bikers done their thing. Well done lads.

May 2007 ... Wilderness Arc World Adventure Racing Championships
This wasn't a planned event but ended up being a great couple of days on Rannoch Moor for the Double Decker Deli. The Lads were heading to Glasgow when they spotted the organisers setting up. A quick chat followed and hey presto the toughest athletes on the planet suddenly had real coffee and great food available to them on one of the most remote areas in the UK. Many of the athletes made good use of the top deck and the Lads squared them away with inflatable mattresses so that they could get a couple of hours shut eye before they cracked on towards Ben Nevis and the finish line in Fort William. Hi to Team Merrell .. hope you enjoyed the two Panini's you almost never got!!
If you made use of the Double Decker Deli at the event drop us an e mail and pass on your thoughts about our set up.
May 2007 ... Skye
The Skye Music festival was the launchpad for the Double Decker Deli and it kicked off with a bang for the Lads. The Bus captured the imagination of the crowds drawing on board a constant stream of customers keen to sample the greatest Mobile Delicatessen known to mankind. The feedback was very positive from customers and organisers alike and the Lads would like to thank everyone who helped our business take off. Big hello to the many people who came back time and time again, you know who you are, regulars already!!
Were you at Skye? Drop us an e mail and let us know what you thought of the Double Decker Deli.
